TECH
CORNER:A COMPLETE GUIDE FLASH & UPDATE ANDROID MTK FIRMWARE USING SP FLASH
TOOL
With the economic recession, it is fair to say that any chance
you get to save a few bucks, it would be wise to save it. Today we talk about
flashing and upgrading firmware of our android devices. You really don’t have
to be a geek to flash your phones ROM in the case of a malware or virus attack.
All you need is:
1.
Your laptop
2.
4. Your
phone’s stock ROM
5. And of
course your phone.
I can
guess what you’re thinking, what is a stock ROM? Basically to avoid using much
tech jargon, we can just say it is an official software of your phone. Every
function a phone can carry out, is coded in the ROM during the programming.
Enough
talk let’s get to the business. If you customize your phone very often, chances
are that you’d be stuck with a firmware issue that’d probably soft brick(make
your phone unable to start up) and you’ll need to flash the phone’s ROM.
It is
possible and easy to find any phone’s stock ROM all you need to do is ask!
STEPS TO STRICTLY FOLLOW:
1. After downloading
all the files, create a folder on your desktop screen and extract them to the
folder.
2.Turn off
your phone
3. Open the
sp flash tool, find the flash_tool.exe right click and run as administrator
4. From the
main screen of the SP flash tool, click scatter- loading button and trace the scatter
file inside the stock ROM you previously downloaded.
5. Now, you
would see a list of files marked, in the case of an upgrade, you can unmark the
usr data and cache otherwise leave every file marked.
6. Click download, then
insert the USB cable into the already powered off phone while holding the
up/down volume button. Do not release the volume button until you see a red
progress bar on the screen.
7. It would change to a yellow progress bar then you
can release the volume button and wait for the progress to complete.
8. A large
green mark would appear on the screen when the process is complete.
9. You can
then boot your phone into recovery mode and do a factory reset then boot up the
phone. You’re done.!
Phone
repair shops would charge you from 1500 to 2000 naira for this. Imagine what 2k
would do for you in this recession. Hmm personally, I know a thing or two I could
do with 2k now. Keep the fire burning starz…
Peace!
